Pumpkin Party Favor Bag

This little party favor or treat bag is made using our Luminaria candle bag template. Just add some pumpkin clipart, some black ribbon for handles and you're all set! Perfect for party favors or as decorations for a Halloween party.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Luminaria bag template (see bottom of this page)

Regular inkjet paper

110 lb. Card stock (or the heaviest paper your printer will handle)

Pumpkin clipart to decorate

Black ribbon

Glue or scotch tape

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Open a blank page in landscape orientation in your graphic program. Import the template and resize, if necessary, so that it fills the page from left to right (don't forget those printable margins!)

2) Add a rectangle the exact same size as each of the sides of the bag template (above sections A and B) and fill this rectangle with an orange color close to the pumpkin clipart you will be using.

3) Print and cut out the template along the grey outline.

3) Snip the lines between C and A, A and D, and D and B to make the small flaps on the bottom of the bag that will be taped or glued together.

4) Fold along the lines for the sides and all flaps.

5) Crease the orange side sections down the center to make a "valley" fold (folds in, not out) the same way a paper grocery bag folds.

6) Fold in (also a "valley" fold) to make a small triangle at the bottom of the sides.

7) Apply glue to all flaps and fold bag in, attaching all flaps at the bottom. (Hint: using the eraser end of a pencil, stand the bag up when all flaps are in place and use the eraser to press the flaps together on the inside of the bag.)

8) Glue tab E on the letter side and attach to the inside of the bag side.

** All flaps can be attached with scotch tape rather than glue.

9) Trim the top of the bag, if necessary, so that will not be seen above the top of your pumpkin clipart.

10) Open a second blank sheet in landscape orientation and place your pumpkin clipart on this page. Check the measurements of this clipart against the bag front (height and width) to insure that the front and back of the bag will be concealed by the pumpkins. Once the size is right, duplicate the pumpkin and place it next to the first allowing room between to cut them out. Flip the orientation of the second pumpkin so that when they are attached to the front and back of the bag they run in the same direction.

11) Print the pumpkin page on the card stock and cut them out.

13) Punch two small holes, side by side, on top of each orange side of the bag (using a dull pencil point works well, just be careful not to rip the paper)and cut two small pieces of black ribbon or whatever you are using for handles. Feed one end of the handle through one hole from the outside in and knot it. Feed the other side of the ribbon through the corresponding hole on the other side of the bag and knot. Repeat this process for the second piece of ribbon.

14) Glue the pumpkins to the front and back of the bag and you're done! Fill with candy or hang as decorations! A sweet treat made with love!

To copy the Luminaria Template, click on the link below. When the page with the template opens, right click on it and chose "Save picture as..." from the drop down menu. Make sure you change the file type to .BMP or .GIF and chose where you want to copy the template to. Once you have saved it you can open the template in your graphics software to add your own art.
