One of our most prolific computer crafters, Shelley Woods from Nevada, is at it again! This time she’s designed a beautiful personalized pillow using our Cotton Inkjet Fabric Sheets that makes a wonderful gift to announce the arrival of the newest family member! Shelley placed a photo on the front of the pillow with some text and on the back printed a text box with lines that will allow the proud parents to write in the vital statistics on their new little angel. What parent wouldn’t love to receive this incredibly thoughtful gift?
MATERIALS:
Cotton Inkjet Fabric Sheets
Scissors
Lace
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Pins
Fabric glue (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Open a blank page in your graphics program in landscape orientation. Place the picture you wish to have on the front of your pillow on this page. Fade the edges if desired for better blending. Save the file.
2.Open a second blank page in landscape orientation for the back of the pillow. Insert a large text box with blank lines in which to enter the “stats” of the new arrival. Shelley chose to keep the colors in her pillow in shades of blue since the pillow was for a boy baby. You can also add a soft color to the background if you prefer. Shelley used a soft blush color. Save the file.
3.Print a test page of each file on plain paper.
4.Once you are satisfied with the layout, etc. you will print each of the files on a cotton inkjet fabric sheet. Peel the backing off the fabric sheet after allowing the ink to set for about five minutes.
5.Pin the lace trim to the front of the pillow face with the rough edges together. Sew the lace to the pillow front.
6.Attach the pillow back to the front with right sides together (the lace will be on the inside) and sew together, leaving a small opening to allow for stuffing.
7.Turn the pillow cover right side out and make certain all your corners are pushed all the way out. Stuff with as much batting as needed.
8.Hand stitch or use fabric glue to seal the opening you left for the stuffing.
