Dry Erase Board

Tired of all those little notes and pieces of paper stuck to your refrigerator? Why not make your own magnetic dry erase board to keep messages and reminders handy? No water or chemicals needed to clean this board. Simply wipe off the ink with a dry tissue! These boards can be printed to coordinate with your decor or you can make them as gifts with special photos and designs customized for the recipient. Great idea for those college kids heading off to the dorm! Give it to them with a message already included -"Phone Home!!"

NOTE: If you prefer not to use dry erase markers, you can use a felt tip marker made for inkjet transparencies. It will wipe off easily with a damp tissue or paper towel.

MATERIALS NEEDED

110 lb.cardstock (or the heaviest paper your printer will handle)

8 1/2 " X 11" cardboard (You can also use our Notepad Backers)

Self-adhesive laminating sheet

Glue Stick

Dry erase marker (or a inkjet transparency felt tip marker)

White Self-adhesive Velcro dots

Peel and stick Magnetic tape

Paper cutter/trimmer or scissors

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Open a blank page in your graphic software in portrait orientation.

2) Design your dry erase board with photos or clipart.

3) Print out on cardstock.

4) Place the cardstock on the cardboard and make sure that it fits correctly. You may have to trim a tiny bit off the edges of the cardboard so that it does not show.

5) Once the cardstock and cardboard are the same size, apply the glue stick to the entire surface of the cardboard and place the printed cardstock on top of it. Press to make certain it is well attached.

6) Peel the backing off the laminating sheet and place it sticky-side up on the table. CAREFULLY place the bottom edge of the cardstock/cardboard onto the bottom of the laminating sheet making certain to leave a small edge to wrap under the back of the cardboard. Slowly lower the cardstock/cardboard onto the laminating sheet a little at a time to prevent bubbling or creasing.

7) Cut the corners off the laminating sheet and fold top and bottom edges of the sheet over the back edges of the cardboard. Do the same with the sides.

8) Apply four small pieces of peel and stick magnetic tape to each of the four corners on the back of the board.

9) Turn the dry erase board over and attach a small velcro dot (you can trim them down to a smaller size) to the right edge of the dry erase board. Put the harder part of the velcro on the board and the softer piece on the dry erase marker.

That's all there is to it! You can change the design as often as you like! How about one for each season or special designs for the holidays!
