If you are new to computer crafting, we can offer some basic help as to what tools you should have on hand and where to get ideas for some wonderful computer crafts.
The first thing to do is get comfortable with your software. We use primarily Printmaster Platinum 16.0 (it has TONS of graphics and project templates - see below for a link to purchase it) but there are many other graphic software titles out there that are equally as wonderful. Learning your software before you attempt to do any computer crafting will save you hours of possible aggravation!
It is also wise to get used to printing any of your crafting designs out on plain paper to check for any necessary adjustments BEFORE you print it out on any specialty paper. This saves on cost!
Have a good "toolbox" handy for all your computer crafts. Our tools include a variety of specialty papers for inkjet printers as well as the following items:
Permanent glue sticks (large and small)
Removable glue sticks (available at most office supply stores)
Double stick tape
Removable double stick tape
Removable tape (sticky on one side only)
Crafting or X-Acto knife
Cutting board or self-healing mat
Decorative scissors
Paper cutter or trimmer (we use a Fiskars paper trimmer - an indispensable tool for under $20!)
Paper scorer (the Fiskars paper trimmer comes with a scoring attachment)
Embellishments like fancy paper punches and glitter glue
Good sharp scissors! Have at least two sizes available: your regular household 8" and a smaller scissor for finer detail work (we find that small manicure scissors work the best!)
Once you have your tools and your paper all you need are the ideas! There are many crafting websites out there with some wonderful project ideas. The sites we have included in our LINKS section have ideas and further links to other sites with projects. Once you start computer crafting, you will probably find, like us, that the ideas begin to pop up all the time! All your imagination needs is a little spark! We hope we can help to provide that spark!
Happy crafting!
